A South African woman was arrested for allegedly smuggling party drugs worth Rs 12 lakh at the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) on Saturday by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).
The accused came to India on a business visa valid up to 12 August, 2014. The incident occurred on Saturday night when a CISF squad intercepted the woman who arrived at IGI to catch a flight KQ 221(Kenya Airlines) to Narobi. The accused was identified as Fiklie Victoria Mjooly (41).
She arrived at the T3 terminal to board a flight to Nairobi. Suspicious of her movements, security personnel intercepted Mjooly and she was sent for a thorough checking. During the security check by CISF near departure gate number 4, her baggage was physically checked and total of 12 kgs of pseudo ephedrine, a known party drug, was removed from her baggage.
Officials reported the matter to anti-narcotics sleuths who later arrested her, said a CISF official. ‘The accused then said that she came to India on 25 February, 2014’, the official said. The value of the drugs is estimated to be Rs 12 lakhs in Indian market while in aboard it may have a cost of Rs 72 lakhs, said the official.
Earlier on 28 October, 2013 CISF arrested a Mozambique national at the IGI Airport for allegedly trying to smuggle over 27 kgs of banned narcotics. The accused M Filipe Carlos, a Mozambican was intercepted by a CISF check squad on suspicion when he was entering Terminal 3 of IGI Airport.
