Noida’s Atta market, known as a commercial hub and considered to be a huge crowd-puller, is all set to come under close surveillance as Noida police have been busy planning to install nearly four dozen CCTV cameras in the area.
The city police have claimed to chalk out a fool- proof plan to ensure round-the-clock monitoring, focused mainly on installation of CCTVs and creation of special teams for patrolling.
The move was initiated by the law enforcement agency after witnessing a surge in cases of petty crimes including snatching, loot, vehicle lifting and arson in and around the market.
As per the plan, the city police are planning to set up 50 cameras which will be installed at all entry points of markets that lead to Sector 18 and other strategic locations which are being identified. Noida police have made this move as part of its policy for community policing. As the market has high-rise buildings and shopping malls, the police have decided to install high, magnified CCTV cameras this time so that they can keep a close vigil on each and every movement of people visiting the place.
“We have been planning to fix CCTV cameras at all entry/exit points as well as other places so that the activities of every suspected element can be scanned easily. The move will not only help in monitoring every nook and corner of the market but will also ensure safety of the people visiting the place,” said a senior police official official.
“As the crowd in the market is ever increasing, the need of the hour is to set-up CCTV cameras in every nook and corner. With increasing volume of people, it has become absolutely necessary to increase policing with proper mechanism. Once cameras are fixed, we will be able to keep an eye on every activity,” said Dinesh Yadav, Superintendent of Police (City) of Noida. He added that monitoring of these cameras would be ensured from the Police Control Room located at Sector 14-A. The senior police official will also assess footages of these cameras on laptops and multimedia mobile phones for quick response.
It would be important to mention that Atta market, located at Sector 18, is one of the busiest marketplaces of the city where show rooms, shopping complexes, banks, corporate office areas are in operation. Apart from businessmen, people living in Noida and Delhi come to Atta for various purposes.
