Three men, including the son of an accused in 1984 anti-Sikh riots, have been arrested by the special cell of Delhi Police for supplying banned drugs. One of the arrested persons is also an alleged king ping of an inter-state narcotic syndicate.
The police have also recovered 3.34 kg of fine quality heroin from their possession worth Rs 12 crore in international market. The accused have been identified as Chander Shekhar (32), Dharam Raj ( 23) and Javed Khan (25), the kingpin. While Shekhar and Raj were arrested from east Delhi’s Trilokpuri, Khan was apprehended from UP’s Bareilly district. Chander Shekhar, whose father was arrested in five riot cases in 1984, and Dharam Raj used to sell the contraband to drug addicts in Delhi, said police.
The consignment was procured by Javed and delivered to Chander Shekhar and Dharam Raj. Besides the contraband, six mobile handsets along with nine SIM cards used for communicating with their associates have also been recovered. Following a tip-off if received, the police laid a trap near an ATM in Block 31 of Trilokpuri, to nab them. ‘Dharam Raj and Chander Shekhar were held while they were exchanging a bag containing 1.5 kg of banned substance. During interrogation, they revealed that they were part of a big inter-state narcotic syndicate. One kg of heroin was later recovered from Dharam Raj’s house in Trilokpuri,’ said Sanjeev Yadav, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell).
