Delhi deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and Environment Minister Imran Hussian on Saturday inaugurated a project for restoration and reclaiming of the forestland in Neb Sarai area.  The project has been undertaken by the NGO Panchavati Green Movement (PGM) comprising children aged between 12 to 14 years who volunteered towards the cause of clean water, clean energy and clean air.

The forest is currently being used as a dumping ground for debris. Besides this, the dust emanating from this forest is affecting the lungs of millions of children in Delhi.  To work towards improving the present conditions, the young volunteers, from nearby schools are motivated in this new campaign to save the environment for the future generations. The occasion also witnessed both the ministers plant saplings.

Last year too, thousands of children from various schools of the Capital marched from Raisina Hills to the National Stadium with the cry of “Quit India Pollution”, and presented to the Environment Minister one million signatures claiming their Constitutional right to clean air, clean water and clean energy.

The activities of PGM has captured the imagination of young people and the government of the Bermuda Islands has extended an invitation to the young leaders of PGM to initiate a similar movement in their country.
