Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit on Friday claimed that Dr B R Ambedkar University will have its permanent campus near Dhirpur on Outer Ring Road. A plot measuring 93 acres has been allotted for this purpose.

‘A permanent university campus will benefit colonies on both sides of the Outer Ring Road. Certain colonies will have opportunities to develop fast as two universities, Dr. Ambedkar University and Delhi University will be in the vicinity of these colonies’, said Dikshit. The chief minister further said that her government has set up six universities.

She added that Delhi continues to be a centre of attraction as it has been offering ample opportunities to everyone. Approximately 5 lakh people come to Delhi every year in search of employment opportunities. In order to address shortages of dwelling units in Delhi, the city government has been constructing low-cost houses.

‘Low cost houses would not only accommodate slum families but would also go a long way in curbing the growth of JJ clusters. The government has decided to provide such low-cost houses to Scheduled Caste families for free’, Dikshit said
