Ilmi, who is among nine personalities roped in by Delhi BJP for the ‘Clean India’ campaign, a vision of prime minister Narendra Modi, said that she was very happy to be part of this campaign.
On 10 October, Shazia had made a surprise appearance at an event organized by state BJP to launch prime minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Clean India’ campaign and praised the Modi government for the initiative calling it a ‘great mission’.
Ilmi, who had unsuccessfully contested the Lok Sabha election from Ghaziabad on an AAP ticket and quit the party in May citing lack of internal democracy, also educated people at Central Park about this campaign.
Meanwhile, Upadhyay has invited Bollywood Superstar Amitabh Bacchan to participate in the ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ in the national capital.
According to Upadhyay, Bacchan told him that a major part of his student life has been connected with Delhi and he will certainly reiterate his commitment for clean Delhi in the next programme in the national capital. During the drive at Central Park, Upadhyay said that Chintan, the organisation working for the welfare of rag pickers of Delhi, also participated in the drive.
Large number of rag pickers participated in this campaign. Apart from this, a cleanliness drive was also launched at Yousuf Sarai Market and Ward Number 163 of municipal corporations by BJP leaders.
