Sharmistha kickstarts poll campaign from GK

Congress candidate from Greater Kailash constituency and President Pranab Mukherjee’s daughter Sharmistha Mukherjee on Thursday stepped up her campaign and addressed rallies. She promised to work for the common people and listed clean drinking water, safety and better sanitation facilities for the people if elected as MLA.

Mukherjee has on Tuesday filed her nomination papers and promised that her focus would be for making the everyday life of her people of GK easier and hassle-free. She has stepped up the campaign in her constituency and has assured that she would do her best to put an effective solution to most of the problems in her constituency and listed drinking water, poor roads and sewage as problems that have plagued the area for a while.

“Parking is also a major problem (defective vehicles have been dumped here and there), there is no Community Hall for the general public, there is no park for recreation and there is also the problem of electricity,” she said. Speaking at Chiragh Delhi, Sharmistha added that “There is the need of a bus stand for Chirag Delhi village, foot over/under bridge and there is no way for entry to Chirag Delhi Village as all entry routes gets closed by police check post/barriers after 9 pm. People are unable to get proper drinking water.”
