A Delhi University student was allegedly raped in her car in Ghaziabad on Saturday night. The student had gone with her driver to the mechanics because the car needed some maintenance work, but the driver, along with a friend, took her to a secluded place, where the driver’s friend raped her.
The victim, a B Com first year student at Delhi University, is a resident of the Rajinder Nagar area in Ghaziabad. On Saturday night she went to a workshop in Arthla area with her driver Yogesh (20), because her TATA Indica car needed maintenance. While returning, Yogesh's friend Asif (28) joined them at the Mohan Nagar round-about. They drove the car to a secluded place in the Sahibabad Industrial Area, where Asif allegedly raped the girl in the car. The incident took place at approximately 11.30 pm. Yogesh allegedly fled from the spot.
'The girl was weeping and crying for help when she reached the main road. She was injured and her clothes were torn. We escorted her to the nearby Link Road police station to lodge a police complaint,' said an eyewitness. The police recovered the car and samples were also picked up by the forensic team for examination. 'We have arrested Yogesh for criminal conspiracy. Asif is still absconding. It has been revealed that the girl was in a relationship with Yogesh and he hatched the conspiracy to rape the girl,' said S S Yadav, S P City of Ghaziabad.
Yogesh resides in Mahraj Gunj area while Asif, a welder resides in Sahibabad. 'We have deployed police teams to nab the culprit,' added Yadav. Yogesh has been booked for criminal conspiracy as the girl in her statement only accused Asif of raping her.
