After the incessant attack of Dengue in Delhi, another blow has been dealt to residents of Shakur Basti of Pitampura. Reportedly, the sewage has mixed with drinking water supply in the area, creating an alarming situation for the people.
Naresh Deshwal, President of Residents Welfare Association, said for the last 24 days in Pitampura police line, extreme dirty water is being supplied. Apparently, the water line is attached with gutters, due to which this problem is arising.
Deshwal said three children have already been hospitalised, one in Saroj hospital and two other in Hemraj hospital, and there they both are fighting for life. He said many others under medication after falling sick because of the dirty water.
‘I went to area DCP and additional DCP as well, but to no avail. I then complained to area MLA Shyamlal Garg, but no solution could be found,’ said Deshwal.
Lives of over 2,000 people is in risk due to this dirty water. If action is not taken soon, a protest will be held in this regard and traffic will be jammed on the main road,’ said Deepika, another resident.
Shyam Lal Garg, MLA, of Pitampura, said, ‘When I came to know about this problem, I immediately sent two Delhi Jal Board water tanks. But rest is not in my hands. For the last 25 years, water, electricity and roads in police line are under the control of Public Works Department [PWD].’
