Shakuntala Gamblin takes charge as new NDMC chief

Shakuntala Gamblin, an IAS officer of the 1984 batch, was on Friday given additional charge of the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC).

Informed sources said Gamblin, who is Principal Secretary (Services) in the Delhi administration, succeeded Jalaj Shrivastava, who has gone to the USA for a month-long training.

Gamlin who has been in Delhi for the last 20 years and is considered close to former Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit.

Since 1994, Gamlin has been serving in the Delhi administration. Sources have further informed that whenever Gamlin was about to be transferred to some other place, she managed to get Central deputation.

Gamlin was on central deputation twice-first time for five years after May 1999 and second time for six years in April 2008.

She returned to Delhi administration in April this year and is currently Principal Secretary’(Service).
