In a veiled warning to Pakistan, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah on Tuesday said India would not hesitate in giving a befitting reply if its soldiers were attacked on the borders. “During the time of previous government, there was no security for Armed forces. Armymen were beheaded.

But today none would dare to do,” he said, adding that the Indian forces would not hesitate in giving a befitting reply.

Addressing party workers here on his first visit to the Union territory, Shah also outlined the achievements of the NDA government and said the party would stand behind Prime Minister Narendra Modi like a “rock”.

He said the NDA government has brought in several distinct developmental schemes and welfare measures.

“None can point out any shortcoming in the NDA rule which came into power 15 months ago. Even our adversaries could not find fault with us,” he said.

Shah said the Prime Minister’s schemes such as ‘Make in India’, Jan Dhan Yojana and social security programmes were enabling the people to get the benefits of welfare measures.

Around 15 crore bank accounts had been opened under Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana in the country.

The ‘Make in India’ programme was generating <g data-gr-id="28">self employment</g> projects. The Prime Minister’s tour abroad had witnessed ‘a big welcome and it has done the country proud,’ the BJP chief said.

“Ours is a <g data-gr-id="25">cadre based</g> party and we will stand behind the Prime Minister as a rock,”
Shah said.
