Appealing to voters in Tamil Nadu to move towards politics of development, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president Amit Shah on Wednesday said that people the state would have to decide in the Assembly polls if they wished to continue with politics of corruption and nepotism or wanted politics of development.

Raking up corruption charges against political parties, Shah said, “The other three parties in the fray – be it AIADMK, DMK or Congress – have corruption cases against their leaders and they have only been exploiting the state’s citizens. On the other hand, BJP government has been in power at the Centre for last two years but there is not even one allegation of corruption.”

“In the last 50 years, if you are upset with AIADMK government, you vote for DMK and if you are unhappy with DMK government, you choose AIADMK. The voters of Tamil Nadu have not voted to elect a new government but they have primarily voted to oust the old government,” Shah said while addressing an election rally at Pattukkottai in Tamil Nadu.

He said, “There is no difference between DMK and AIADMK. Both parties are corrupt; they have caused immense loss to the state and pulled down its development graph.”

Hailing Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre, Shah said, “The Narendra Modi government has taken many path breaking initiatives and it is working very well on several fronts. The Modi government initiated dialogue with Sri Lanka government for protection of Indian fishermen. As a result, Sri Lankan Navy has not caused any harm to even one Indian fisherman in the last two years.”
