A seven year old girl was raped by her neighbour in the western district area of Ranhola police station on Sunday.
A medical test was conducted after the victim’s family filed a police complaint. The results of the test confirmed rape.
Police has arrested the accused, identified as 28-year-old Shyam.
He was presented in court and has been sent to judicial custody.
According to sources, the seven-year-old victim is a resident of the Ranhola area. The accused, Shyam, was a tenant at the same house where the victim’s family lives. The accused works as a daily wager.
On the night of 23 June, the accused took the girl to his room and raped her.
The girl later narrated her ordeal to her mother and the family filed a police complaint on Monday.
