Senior SP leader held on charges of eve-teasing

A senior ruling Samajwadi Party leader and former MP Chandra Nath Singh has been taken in custody by Uttar Pradesh police here last night on the charges of eve-teasing on a running train.

Police sources on Monday said that Chandranath Singh was taken in custody at Shahjahanpur railway station on a complaint by a woman travelling on Padmavat Express. ‘The SP leader was made to alight the train and taken to police station,’ the official said.

According to the incident, the accused boarded the train at Pratapgarh in a second AC coach without any reservation. The former MP, who was on his way to Delhi, had some dispute with a woman over the berth.
