Senior Defence Ministry officer accused of molesting minor in Rohini area
A 14-year- old- girl has alleged that a Joint Director-level officer in the Ministry of Defence molested her during Holi celebrations.
The incident was reported in the Rohini area. The girl in her complaint alleged that the senior official allegedly molested her on Holi at their apartment in Rohini, police said on Wednesday.
According to the police, on the basis of her complaint, a case under POCSO (protection of children from sexual offences) Act has been registered against the senior official at the Samaipur Badli police station. The accused is yet to be arrested in the case. Police have served him a notice asking him to join the investigation, said a police officer.
The girl lives with her family in a flat at Rohini. She is a Class 9 student, studying in a private school. The accused lives in the same apartment with his family and is currently posted with the Defence Ministry.
The girl in her complaint told the police that on 17 March she was playing Holi with her friends within the premises of the apartment. In the afternoon, she was standing alone outside the joint director’s flat, said a police official.
‘The victim in her complaint alleged that the senior official came out of his flat and stood near her. A few minutes later, he grabbed the girl’s hand and tried to pull her into his flat. The girl somehow managed to rescue herself from his clutches and ran away. She straightaway went home and started crying,’ said a police official on the conditions of anonymity.
Her parents filed a complaint at the police station. A case was registered on her complaint and her statement was recorded before a city magistrate under section 164 of CrPC.
