A woman in her late sixties was found murdered under mysterious circumstances at her ground floor house in A-block area of West Delhi’s Paschim Vihar on Thursday evening.

The deceased has been identified as Krishna Devi. Police have registered a case and are probing the matter from all angles, said a senior police officer of the West district.

Devi was allegedly strangled with a cloth after which the culprits fled with valuables whose worth is yet to be calculated, said police. Sources said three men have been captured on a CCTV footage entering the house at around 2.30 pm.

Relatives told that Devi’s husband died last year. Since they had no children, the old lady lived with her nephew, Chunni Lal. Lal looks after a sanitary tools and equipment business located in Jwala Heri area which was apparently owned by Devi’s husband. He always had lunch with Devi.

However, since there was too much work in the shop, he sent his servant to fetch lunch from the house. Speaking to Millennium Post, Maneesh (32), Devi’s another nephew said: “Chunni Lal lived with our aunt.

Since he was engrossed in his work, he sent the office boy to get the lunch packed from home. When the boy reached the house, he found that the door was open and Krishna mami was lying on the floor.

A cloth was tied around her neck. Everything in the house was scattered. The boy called up Chunni Lal after which they took mami to Balaji Action hospital where she was declared brought dead. Later police were informed.

We don’t know what all did the culprits take away in terms of cash or jewellery.” He further said that there was a security guard posted in the locality and that the house is located just few metre away from the local police station.

Meanwhile, senior police officers of the West District said that they are probing the case from all angles.
“We are questioning the tenants who lived on the first and second floor.

We are also scanning through the CCTV footage of the nearby houses installed in the lane to establish who entered the house,” said a senior police officer.
