Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray on Saturday offered fresh proposal to the BJP on seat sharing for Maharashtra assembly poll to save their 25-year old alliance, which is on the verge of splitting. Sources aid, Uddhav sent the proposal to BJP poll in-charge Oam Mathur, which was later conveyed to the BJP president Amit Shah for further consideration.
As per Sena’s new proposal, they are willing to contest in 155 seats (out of total 288 seats), which is 14 seats less from its earlier stance. They have also suggested that remaining 133 seats could be given to BJP, while few seats could be accommodated among other smaller parties like RPI, Swabhimani Shetkari Sangathan and Rashtriya Samaj Paksha.
The proposal was expected to be discussed at BJP’s core committee meeting soon. Speaking to the media people, Mathur claimed that he hasn’t yet received any new proposal from Shiv Sena. But party insiders claimed that it was already received by the party leadership. On the context of party’s next course of action if talks on seat sharing with Sena will fail, Mathur said,
