A 27-year-old Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) official was allegedly stabbed to death by a vagabond, when he refused to give him any money for buying liquor, at New Delhi’s Connaught Place area on Monday night. The SSB official was identified as Selvaraj, who was posted as a constable with the 48th battalion in Kashmir. Selvaraj was about to take a train and join duty from Tuesday, after spending a month-long leave at his residence in Kerala’s Malappuram district. Around 7 pm, he hired an auto-rickshaw from New Delhi Railway Station and was heading for the Old Delhi Railway Station for boarding a train. He asked the driver of the auto-rickshaw to pull over at a spot in Shaheed Bhagat Singh Marg and gave him some money to get him some snacks for the journey, said a police official.
