Inputs from the Intelligence Bureau say that these attackers plan to use oil or gas tankers, Kashmiri, Khalistani, LTTE and other terror outfits from the north east are planning to conduct an attack in the near future, if sources are to be believed. Security agencies are being asked to keep a tight vigil, especially on roads and flyovers near IGI airport which have been identified as possible points of such attacks.
Sources at the airport confirm that a specific threat was received on the first week of March about targetting VVIPs. ‘There are a numbers of turns and flyovers on the way. This warrants a need to stop movement of tankers on the road before any VVIP crosses that path,’ sources said.
‘Anyone can bring explosives in their car’s boot and can place bombs in or near the oil tanker. This can have devastating consequences,’ said the source.
‘Bureau for Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) and the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), which are responsible for airport security, have been asked to put more men on its anti-hijacking team. The police was also informed about this development’, the source added.
