Congress leader Yadagiri was shot at by some unknown assailants in Secunderabad on Saturday. He was hit by six bullets in Bowenpally region in Secunderabad. A man riding a bike opened fire on the Congress leader, eye witnesses said.
The attack took place in Old Bowenpalli when the assailant riding with an accomplice on a motorbike opened fired at him when he was coming out of his residence. CCTV footage showed the Congress leader trying to resist the attacker as he chased Yadagiri inside a nearby hospital premise.
Yadagiri, the former member of the Hyderabad Municipal Corporation was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital. He is undergoing treatment and is out of danger, doctors said. Police recovered two pistols and they suspect he was shot at over a personal rivalry.
According to Hyderabad Police Commissioner Mahender Reddy a special probe team has been formed to scan the CCTV footage in order to identify the attacker and arrest him. While one weapon was found in a dustbin of the hospital, another was recovered from Yadagiri. He said he snatched the firearm from the attacker.
