The South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) has decided to get health conscious and prepare online health cards for all the students in its private and unaided schools.
Each student will be subjected to regular health check ups under this programme. The civic agency with tie up with private hospitals to issue the cards.
'We have almost finalised the format and will start the work soon,' said Satish Upadhayay, chairman of SDMC's education committee.
The card would contain vital statistics of each student apart from status of anemia, malnutrition and other health risks. 'The online health card will enable us in identifying the vulnerable students and address their health issues on priority basis,' Upadhayay added.
The civic agency chairman also claimed that the project will be first of its kind in the country. These health cards would be available on the official website of the corporation. Presently, the corporation has no clear
policy of regular health check ups.
Apart from this, SDMC is also planning to start 'hygiene rating' of its schools to improve the
hygiene standards.
'We are planning to equip our schools with three levels of hygiene facilities based on the height and age group of students,' Upadhayay informed.
