South Delhi Municipal Corporation on Tuesday started removing illegal hoardings, banners and any other advertising medium which are illegal.
Illegal advertising has become a <g data-gr-id="22">much talked</g> issue in the city. A press note issued by south MCD claimed that, Corporation Commissioner Puneet Kumar Goel has asked advertisement department of the corporation to remove <g data-gr-id="30">unipoles</g>, wall wraps, hoardings, flexes and iron structures installed in the four zones which are illegal and violate the outdoor advertising policy.
“Officials have been directed to remove illegal hoardings, wall wraps etc,” Goel said. He further stated that as many as 117 FIRs have been registered under Delhi Prevention of Defacement Act against illegal hoardings activities. Commissioner added that we will further intensify the drive of removal of illegal hoardings for <g data-gr-id="23">beautification</g> of <g data-gr-id="24">city</g>. “Illegal hoardings are causing revenue loss to the corporation as well as defacing the city,” Goel added.
SDMC Mayor Subhash Arya said: “Buildings on which these metal structures are installed are also under threat due to its heavy structure. We will make an awareness of residents not to put these metal structures at buildings for hoardings.”
