With approval granted for the layout plan of the fourth unauthorised colony in its area on Tuesday, South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) has completed its pilot project to prepare and approve layout plans for unauthorised colonies, out of its own pocket.
None of the resident welfare associations (RWA) have deposited their fees for the layout plans.
‘As the government was blaming us for inaction, we released Rs 40 lakh as fees to a consultant government institute for the preparation of layout plans for our four unauthorised colonies,’ said Rajesh Gehlot, chairman of SDMC’s standing committee. The committee approved layout plans for Jain Colony Pocket — II and III in Uttam Nagar area. As per records, the colony is spread on 18.79 acres. The corporation had earlier approved the layout plans for Rajauri Garden, Shakti Vihar and a colony in Badarpur area.
‘Now the ball is in the government’s court, as we have done our work. It is on them to pay the fees to us or ask the RWAs to pay,’ added Gehlot.
As per the government’s decision, School of Planning and Architecture was assigned to prepare layout plans of SDMC area.
East DMC and North DMC have also sanctioned fees for the preparation of layout plans of five colonies, each at the rate of Rs 50,000 per acre in their areas.
