A Scottish national has been arrested for allegedly raping a 35-year-old woman on the pretext of marriage. The accused, Edward Crispine (40), is the manager of a fitness centre in South Delhi’s Defence Colony area.

He was produced before a magistrate on Sunday, who sent him to a 14-day judicial custody.

“The woman, a resident of CR Park, is unmarried. She got to know Crispine on Facebook and they started chatting. Crispine introduced himself as the manager of a known fitness centre in Defence Colony. Gradually, they entered into a relationship and Crispine promised to marry her. The two were in a relationship for five months. But later, Crispine refused to marry her and called off the relationship, after which the woman filed a complaint,” said a police official.

Crispine has been living in Delhi for 10 years, he added. A case of rape has been lodged against Crispine at the Defence Colony police station.
