School of Open Learning to start FYUP in next academic session

CS Dubey, director and chairperson of Governing Body of SOL, said, ‘We held a three-hour long meeting, on 26 December, where we have decided to implement FYUP and run Foundation Courses in SOL, from the coming academic session. After coming to this decision, we have sent the proposal to the DU administration for final approval.’

‘With the implementation of FYUP, we have planned to construct more study centers, therefore giving hope to students. For the sake of students we have also decided and proposed 50 study centers and four regional centers in Delhi.

 ‘In SOL, students instead of wasting time and money in commuting and standing in queues, can apply for admission online, and those who are not interested in registering themselves online can apply offline,’ he added.

Another official from SOL, wishing anonymity said, ‘in the next academic session, after implementing Foundation Courses, we will initially conduct some exams to make students aware of the subjects, and then we will gradually guide them towards the FYUP. We think the four-year undergraduate programme will provide good opportunities to students. Every year, close to 1.5 lakh students take admission in SOL’.
