‘SC or EC should take the final call on Odd-Even Ph-3’

Update: 2016-05-08 23:39 GMT
Alleging the surveys conducted by Delhi government on Odd-Even were partial, Rajya Sabha MP Vijay Goel on Saturday demanded that such surveys should be conducted under the guidance of the Election Commission or Supreme Court. He further demanded that a Supreme Court-monitored expert committee should take a final call on Odd-Even Phase III.

“If next Odd Even is implemented without proper preparations, there will be a rally at Ramlila Maidan by Lok Abhiyan on the very first day of the scheme,” cautioned Goel. He further alleged that even the Supreme Court which had praised the scheme before its implementation has expressed its concerns.

“The SC also asked as to why Odd-Even was not successful?”  He clarified that he was not averse to the scheme but was raising the concerns of the people who suffered during the implementation of the scheme.

To support his claim about the failure of the Odd-Even scheme in Delhi, Goel also presented the survey report of Lok Abhiyan NGO

He argued that only the Supreme Court or Election Commission-monitored survey would put forward the view of people of Delhi with respect to the next phase of the scheme.

He further pointed out that it was only due to hefty fine of Rs 2,000 people were forced to follow the scheme up to some extent.
