Satta gang busted, kingpin held

Delhi Police have arrested a notorious criminal who is the kingpin of a satta racket which he has been running for the past 30 years in Delhi and neighbouring states. His arrest led to the busting of the entire racket and police have recovered three laptops, mobile and cash worth Rs 1 lakh. According to the police, on February 13, a police inspector got a tip off about a betting racket operating from a flat in Jahangirpuri area. Based on this information, they raided the place and apprehended the three accused — Subhash, Samshad and Ravinder. On sustained interrogation, they revealed the name of their gang leader, Mohd Usman, alias Haji, who lives in Chandni Mahal. He was consequently arrested. “Haji is a bad character and a Proclaimed Offender in gambling and cheating cases. More than 50 cases have been registered against him. He is also wanted in a MCOCA case. He revealed that since early days he was into betting as his father was also into this satta racket. He followed his father, Don Inayat Ali’s path and joined him in 1977,” said Vijay Singh, DCP (North-west).
