Sangh flexes muscle, gets Javadekar plum post

With the demotion of erstwhile HRD Minister  Smirti Irani to a low-key portfolio –  Ministry of Textiles – the Narendra Modi-leg government has given a clear message that it is here for serving the nation and not running away from its responsibility by creating “unending” controversies over trivial issues.

Javadekar is the lone minister to be promoted to the rank of a Cabinet minister and has been made in-charge of the high-profile HRD Ministry.  A political expert said the ministry was “believed” to be the sole right of Irani as she enjoyed the “blessings” of Modi, adding that it was the RSS factor that changed Javadekar’s fate.

He added the main reason behind showing the door to Irani is her controversy-creating behaviour, which had always brought shame to the BJP and the government. “Irani is a leader, who has lesser public interface, while Javadekar is a leader, who acts in accordance with the need of time and most importantly party,” the expert said.

Javadekar is not the only minister, who has been trusted the most. There are others too who enjoy the blessings of the RSS and have been given plum posts. Anil Madhav Dave, an MP from Madhya Pradesh, has been give the charge of Environment Ministry, a key ministry related to public affairs.

Also, Manoj Sinha, an RSS man, has been given the charge of the Ministry of telecommunications. Earlier, Ravi Shankar Prasad led the ministry. Prasad has been sent back to low-profile Law Ministry. He will also look after the IT Ministry.

Another RSS confidante, Narendra Tomar, has been given the charge of Rural development ministry, while SS Ahluwalia has been appointed MoS Ministry of Agriculture. With the surprise shifting of Minister of State for Finance Jayant Sinha to Civil Aviation in the same rank, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley will have two ministers to assist him. Santosh Gangwar, who was MoS (Independent charge) in Ministry of Textiles, was shifted as MoS for Finance.

Arjun Ram Meghwal, who was among the 19 new Ministers of State to be sworn in this morning, will also assist Jaitley. Meghwal has also got Corporate affairs. Jaitley was earlier assisted only by Sinha.
