Sangam Vihar case: Five held

Days after bodies of two minors were recovered from a jungle in south-east Delhi’s Sangam Vihar, Delhi Police on Thursday arrested five persons for sodomising the duo and later killing them.

The accused have been identified as Vivek Kumar (22), Vikas alais Veeru (28), Vikas alias Vicky (28), Jitender (28) and Harish (28). All are residents of Sangam Vihar area. On late Monday evening, bodies of the two children aged 12 and 10 years respectively, were discovered. Both were neighbours who went to the jungle to acquire wood on Monday morning but did not return. During investigation, it was learnt that four to five persons were seen going towards jungle with a pressure cooker and some eatables on the day of the incident. Further, with the help of an informer, their identities were established and raids were conducted at their residences and possible hideouts but to no avail. Further, one Vivek Kumar was apprehended from his hideout on Thursday morning. Later all other accused were also arrested. “During interrogation, it was revealed that two of them were involved in petty offences and all of them were in the habit of cooking food in the jungle and enjoying feasts and drinks together,” a cop said.
