The Delhi International Arts Festival 2016 has been a resounding success so far. Artists from all over the world have enthralled the Delhi culture loving audience with their breathtaking performances.

Kuchipudi danseuse Meenu Thakur, and her disciples presented ‘Samarpan’-The Saga of Eternal Surrender, at the Civil Services Officers’ Institute, New Delhi recently. The beautiful CSOI auditorium came alive, with Meenu’s dance. Without a doubt, Meenu deserves appreciation for bringing in innovative themes into her choreography. She has always attempted to travel through uncharted territory and ‘Samarpan’ was an example in point.

‘Samarpan’, which is a story of devotion, portrayed the singing bard Mirabai, who devoted her entire life to Lord Krishna. Very ably choreographed by Meenu Thakur, this saga traversed the entire life of Mirabai - from childhood to her final salvation.

Thakur portrayed the protagonist Mira with absolute finesse. In a highly stylized and stirring performance, Meenu aptly expressed the emotions of devotion, joy and sorrow of Mirabai. She was supported admirably by her disciples, who were convincing in their portrayal of the other principal characters in the story. The artistes were also honoured by DIAF and CSOI.
