A member of Shiromani Akali Dal, Omkar Singh, opened fire in the air in Malviya Nagar on Saturday. Romit Malik, 27, a businessman and a resident of the area lodged the complaint against Singh.
‘At 10.30 pm, Malik and his brother were having dinner at Taj Grill Restaurant when a car stopped outside the eating joint. Three persons were sitting inside the car. Omkar Singh then came came out of the car and opened fire in the air. They then fled away,’ Malik told police.
At 1.30 pm, the car was caught near Pind Baluchi in south Delhi. Three persons inside were identified as Omkar Singh, 43, Gurjeet, 40 and Charanjeet, 40, residents of Malviya Nagar.
Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident. ‘During investigation, a licensed revolver was recovered from Singh’s possession, ’ a senior police official said.
Singh said he opened the fire to celebrate. A case under section 336 (endangering life or personal safety of others) of Indian Penal Code has been registered against Omkar at Malviya Nagar police station.
