SAD-BJP alliance heading towards clean sweep in Zila Parishad polls

The Shiromani Akali Dal-BJP allaince is heading for a clean sweep in the Zila Parishad and Block Samiti polls with winning 14 Zila Parishad and 130 Block Samiti seats and leading in most of the seats as per the results and trends available till noon on Tuesday. In Zila Parishad elections held on 19 May amid sporadic violence, the SAD-BJP combine candidates have won 14 seats out of total 333 seats in the state whereas 30 candidates had won unopposed earlier, official sources said.  The official said that in Amritsar district the alliance have 11 out of total 176 seats whereas 69 candidates were elected unopposed earlier, in Ferozepur 7 candidates have won out of 107 whereas 2 candidates were elected unopposed. In Block Samiti polls, the combine has won 130 seats of the total 2732 seats whereas 231 candidates had won unopposed earlier. As per the results and trends, the alliance is all set to sweep these polls.
