Uproarious scenes were witnessed in the Gujarat Assembly on Friday following a Congress MLA’s alleged ‘derogatory’ remarks against Chief Minister Narendra Modi, which agitated BJP members, who later forced the Opposition legislator to tender an apology for it.

During the question hour on Friday, while raising a question on the population of Asiatic Lions in Gir, Congress MLA from Manavadar Javahar Chavda made some comments on the role played by Modi in increasing the number of wild cats at the sanctuary. Enraged over the remarks, BJP MLAs present in the House during the question hour, were on their feet in protest and vociferously demanded an apology from Chavda.

For few minutes proceedings of the House was stalled amid sloganeering and shouting by agitated ruling party members.
