The Youth Festival – 2013 concluded over the weekend. The final day of the festival saw power packed performances by rock bands and contemporary dances by various groups.
The festival brought together a Indian extravaganza of dance, drama and music for youngsters in the Capital. Over the five days the festival staged together an array of dance forms that depicted flavour of India drenched in youthful aura.
Young and talented artistes and groups from across the country participated and made the event a success.Youth bands’ performances, laser light shows and aerial acts caught up with the audience. Be it contemporary, classical or folklore – there was a bit of everything to watch out for.
Giving the festival a touch of art, an exhibition showcased best artworks by young artists from various art colleges of Delhi for visitors at the festival.
As part of their many endeavors to keep intact the roots of our country that lies strong in its dance, drama and culture and of course the youth, Delhi Government’s Department of Art, Culture and Languages under Delhi Celebrates annually holds this festival to make sure young achievers are recognised and encouraged to take their talents seriously and in turn also bring a time for celebration for the cultural capital of the country.
The finale performances were by contemporary dance group Tapasya and Agam music band. Other participating dance groups were Malti Shyam’s students performed Kathak, Madhimita Rao’s students performed Oddissi, Madhvi Mudgal’s students also performed Odissi and Guru Singh Jeet Singh’s group performed Manipuri.
Audience also had a soulful night with Murad’s Sarangi ensemble, Akram Khan’s Tabla ensemble, Ajay Kumar’s ritual drum, Anupriya’s Parinday band to perform violin, Pt Bhajan Sapoori’s Santoor.
