The accused were identified on the CCTV cameras but no arrests have been made yet.

The incident took place in the early hours of Tuesday at approximately 6 am. ‘Prima facie it seems that a recce was done before executing the robbery or an insider was involved in the act. A few minutes after the outlet received its daily stock of vegetables and milk, armed robbers barged inside with masks and country-made pistols’, a police official close to investigation said.

During the attack, some employees were busy in managing the newly-arrived stock. Meanwhile five robbers got hold of some employees and closed the shutter of the outlet from the inside. Further the goons told the employees to open the locker and handover the money. The locker contained Rs 1.40 lakh, which was eventually stolen.

The entire robbery lasted six minutes (6.35 am to 6.41 am) and it was captured on CCTV cameras installed inside the outlet. Police have recovered footage from these cameras. Usually the outlet is open for the general public at 8 am. Before escaping with the stolen cash, one of the assailants attacked an employee.

A case of robbery has been registered at Shahdara police station and the investigating officers are scanning the CCTV footages to identify the robbers.

In a separate incident, five assailants robbed jewellery and cash worth Rs 22 lakhs from a jeweller in east Delhi’s IP Extension area on Monday. The victim, a jeweler, was returning home in his Santro car along with his elder brother. The robbers remained absconding.

According to police, the incident took place on Monday at around 9.30 pm when Mukesh Jain (33) was driving back home to J-Extension in Laxmi Nagar.

‘They (the robbers) managed to escape soon after robbing the valuables and cash amount. Due to a dark stretch we were unable to note the registration number of the car used in the crime scene,’ Hemant told the police. During investigation, it was learnt that the duo jewellers were carrying 700 grams Gold and 21 lakh cash.
