While resisting a robbery, a 19-year-old meat seller was stabbed twice in his groin by the robbers in east Delhi’s Vivek Vihar area. The robbers who also took away Rs 48,000 are yet to be arrested.
The victim has been identified as Gobinda is undergoing treatment at a nearby hospital and his condition is stated to be stable. He had identified one robber as Sunny, his neighbour but he was unable to recognise other two robbers.
Gobinda who owns a meat shop in Kasturba Nagar area told police that at the time of the incident he was cleaning his shop when three robbers barged inside the shop. The robbers managed to take away currency notes lying on a table. Noticing them stealing the money, Gobinda tried to raise an alarm and tried to stop their way before they could escape.
He told police that when he tried to block their way, one of them picked up a knife and stabbed him twice in his groin. Later, they managed to give an easy escape with the money. Somehow, Gobinda managed to call his friend—Neeraj who was near his shop. Initially Neeraj tried to chase Sunny and his two associates but they escaped. He then made a call to the police control room.
Meanwhile, Gobinda was rushed to the nearby hospital where he is undergoing treatment. A case under the section of voluntarily causing hurt and dacoity with attempt to cause death or grievous hurt has been registered at Vivek Vihar police station.
A raid was conducted at accused Sunny’s home, but he was found missing. Police said they hope to arrest the three robbers very soon.
