The Railways on Thursday ruled out sabotage behind the derailment of a Jammu-bound train in adjoining Kaushambi district earlier this week and said the inquiry underway would be completed at the earliest and adequate action against those found guilty would follow.

"I visited the site in Kaushambi district where several <g data-gr-id="15">bogies</g> of the Muri Express had derailed on Monday killing some passengers and injuring many. From the inputs that have so far received, it does not appear to be a sabotage," said Minister of State for Railways Manoj Sinha.

He added: "I would be able to comment on the possible cause only once the Commissioner of Railway Safety, who has been entrusted with the inquiry, comes out with his report."

He said there was a "huge gap between the demand on Railways posed by a rising population and the network that we have" but expressed confidence that things will undergo "a drastic improvement in the next five years when the Railways will be strengthened by handsome investments from public sector companies as well as from foreign countries like Japan".
