Revisiting Shahjahanabad

Shahjahan’s favourite daughter Jahan Ara, laid the foundation to the ‘abode of Shahajan’, Shahjahanabad around 1639, which eventually happened to be one of the most talked about places in the country. 

Chandni Chowk of the national Capital used to be the most famous part of Shahjahanabad. To showcase the best of Old Delhi, artist Saranjit Singh, is displaying his collection of paintings at the India Habitat Centre in the national Capital. 

Titled ‘Glimpses of Shahjahanabad’, the art exhibition reveals a lot about Shahjahanabad, which is now a part of Old Delhi. The artist has represented his creativity, using acrylic water colour to depict the activities in the old by-lanes.

“Painting to me is an experimental journey into the depth of my interpretation. Art for me is the only way to express myself, providing me an opportunity to visualise my thoughts and channelise my creative energies,” said the artist. The exhibition will be on till May 31.
