Red’s Borini out injured for 3 months

Update: 2012-10-19 00:55 GMT
Liverpool striker Fabio Borini could be sidelined for three months as he is to undergo foot surgery, said the Premier League club.

Borini sustained the injury in the Reds’ 1-2 home defeat to Manchester United Sep 23 and ‘aggravated the problem resulting in a fracture’ when on international duty with Italy’s Under-21 team ahead of their game against Sweden Friday.

‘Typically, an injury of this nature requires a three-month rehabilitation period,’ said the club in a statement posted on their website Wednesday.

The 21-year-old Borini joined Liverpool from Roma in the summer and has scored just once in 11 appearances.
