Reckless biking claimed two more lives at two separate parts of the city on Monday night.
These recent incidents took the death toll due to rash biking to 4 in the last two weeks.
As a result of <g data-gr-id="27">these kind</g> of irresponsible actions, the <g data-gr-id="28">bikers as well as the innocent bystanders</g> have been victims of gruesome accidents. Monday night's incidents also raised question marks over the laxity of night patrolling by the police.
According to the <g data-gr-id="37">police</g> the first incident happened around 1.30 am near the Hastings area.
A bike lost control near the AJC Bose road and hit a pavement. Both the rider and the pillion rider were severely injured and taken to the nearby hospital where the pillion rider was declared dead. The deceased has been identified as <g data-gr-id="30">Jahid</g> Naseem (35).
The second incident happened just one hour after the first where a minor was killed in another accident. The severely injured pillion rider is admitted in MR Hospital, <g data-gr-id="26">Bangur</g>.
The deceased, a 16-year-old boy named Rupak Saha was a resident of Garia's <g data-gr-id="31">Lakhshmi</g> Narayan Colony while the pillion rider Suman Chakraborty (14) lives in Boral area.
Rupak was notorious in his area for rash driving and even after repeated warnings he did not listen.
Rupak's father claimed that he got the news of the accident on Tuesday morning adding that if the police would have been more vigilant and given the news on Monday night itself, his son could have been saved.
About ten days ago, Rajesh Sahoo (25) and Ritesh Jaiswal (23) also lost their lives in two different cases of bike accidents.
According to the <g data-gr-id="24">police</g> most of the people who died in these accidents did not use helmets.
