As many as 44 people were detained by officials of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Thursday, including four women and a Swiss national, from a farm house in the outskirts of Gurgaon. The raid was conducted on the wee hours of Thursday jointly by the NCB and Gurgaon Police.
Narcotic substances like cocaine, LSD, crystallised meth and cannabis were recovered after the farmhouse, named Tiwari Farm House, located in the Bisar village of Haryana was raided, said a police official. He further said, police are now trying to estimate the source of the drugs and its combined estimated value in the international market.
“All the detained persons, except the 46-year-old Swiss national, were aged between 20 and 26 years. They were either college students or employees of BPOs and event management companies. Most of them were residents of Delhi,” said a senior police official.
However, the identity of the detained youths were not disclosed by officials as their blood samples have been sent for tests and the results were yet to arrive.
According to a source, the owner of the farmhouse had allegedly organised 10 to 12 such rave parties in the past. Each time he had taken sufficient precautionary measures to keep these parties a secret.
On the eve of Christmas, the invitation to the party was being circulated through Facebook and Whatsapp, and that is how the information got leaked. The message contained details on how to reach the venue. For this party, the organiser was charging Rs 1,000 per head as entry charge. Invitees were charged extra for drugs and abundant booze available there. Later, it was found that the liquor being served in the party was without any excise permit.
However, police have not been able to identify the organiser but he is suspected to be one among the detained individuals. During investigation, it also emerged that many of the invitees did not know the organiser directly. They were looking for a place to indulge in a rave party and they simply followed the message, said a police official.
It was the Delhi Zonal office of the NCB which informed Gurgaon Police chief, Navdeep Singh Virk, about the party. The input disclosed that the rave party was planned to be held in the area of district Gurgaon from 12.00 am till 6.00 am on December 25 followed by the address of the farm house picked up from the leaked message.
A team of around 35 police officials, including women cops, and a few NCB officials were formed immediately under the leadership of an Assistant Police Commissioner of Gurgaon Police. They conducted the raid between 3 am and 4 am when the party was at its peak.
The investigation has now been taken up by Mewat police under whose jurisdiction the farmhouse is located.
