Officials on Friday refuted the charges of corruption levelled by the Aam Aadmi Party against the Corporation in the construction of Rani Jhansi Grade Separator.Leader of House of North MCD Vijay Prakash Pandey strongly refuted the charges of corruption levelled by AAP leader Dilip Pandey against the Corporation in allotment of sanitation work in three of its hospitals and construction of Rani Jhansi Grade Separator.
“The construction cost of Rani Jhansi Grade Separator still remains Rs 93.84 crore. There is no provision for escalation in construction cost as per the tender document.
The main reasons of both the cost and time delays have resulted from delays in land acquisition for the project which is to be done by the Delhi government. The cost of exchange of land has increased from Rs 70 crore originally to Rs 524 crore out of which approximately Rs 111 crore has been paid and Rs 413 crore are still required,” Pandey said.
He said that the AAP-led Delhi government wants to mislead citizens of Delhi by spreading false information about the working of the Corporation.
“Taking into consideration all the factors, a revised cost of the project was prepared at Rs 724.22 crore. Since North MCD is unable to make the entire expenditure on its own due to paucity of funds, it approached the GNTCD that released Rs 20 crore in 2014-15 and Rs 50 crore in 2015-16.
However, the amount allocated for 2015-16 has not been released by the Delhi government so far. “If at all corruption is the reason for project cost and time delay, it has been done by the Delhi government itself,” he added.
