Tremors were felt in some parts of northern India early on Saturday after a powerful earthquake jolted Afghanistan. There were no reports of casualties or damage to property in the national Capital where many residents were shaken out of their beds some 45 minutes past midnight on Friday.
At least 89 people were injured in Pakistan when a powerful earthquake jolted several parts of the country, including areas bordering Afghanistan.
The centre of the quake with 196-km depth was Afghanistan and it was also felt in parts of Tajikistan and India, said Ghulam Rasool, Meteorological Department Director General. However, no loss of life transpired from the earthquake. The tremors were also felt in Jammu and Kashmir where there was widespread panic. The US Geological Survey, however, said the quake measured 6.2 on the Richter scale. In Delhi, some people ran out of their homes for safety.
