Property disputes behind Tanzil Ahmed’s murder?

Update: 2016-04-06 23:12 GMT
In a major development in the brutal murder case of Tanzil Ahmed, DSP in NIA, two property disputes in Bijnor that were directly linked to him came to light, said sources in the National Investigation Agency (NIA). Even though the agencies are not ruling out the possibility of a terror angle behind the murder, the agencies are also scrutinising the details of Ahmed’s family members, relatives and peer groups.

On Tuesday, the agencies have identified two persons who were spotted in the CCTV footage and later in the evening one of them was identified as a relative and another as cook, belonging to Delhi. The agencies are yet to identify the two suspects who had gate-crashed the wedding.

A senior official in NIA said: “A special team is reading the expressions of each person seen in the footage including close relatives of Ahmed, who are also under scanner.”

Another source confirmed that the agency have got some leads on the two deals of disputed properties in Bijnor that were allegedly made by Ahmed two years ago.

“There was a land in Bijnor that three brothers — Yasin, Arif and Tehsin — who are the cousins of Ahmed, were willing to buy. But Ahmed intervened and helped another man to buy it. The man was known to Ahmed. After the deal, the trio had a tiff with Ahmed and since then they were not in speaking terms,” the source added.

He further said: “Similarly, Ahmed was also involved in helping another person in buying a land at a comparatively lower cost in Bijnor that his cousins—Rahat and Kasib were interested in buying.

The duo had warned Ahmed to not to intervene and the warnings later turned into a heated scuffle after they failed to buy the land.” No case was registered in both the incidents. The call details of the cousin brothers are being scanned.

Meanwhile, NIA officials on Tuesday said that the condition of Ahmed’s wife, Farzana, who had been admitted to the hospital after receiving four bullets, is critical.
