Prez, PM laud ISRO for historical satellite launch

President Pranab Mukherjee, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and a host of Union Ministers on Wednesday congratulated the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) for the successful launch of a record 20 satellites here.

“Heartiest congratulations to ISRO Team on successful launch of PSLV-C34 carrying a record 20 satellites #PresidentMukherjee”, the President said in a tweet.

PM Narendra Modi said, “20 satellites in a go! @isro continues to break new barriers. Hearty congratulations to our scientists on the monumental accomplishment”. “Our space programme has time and again shown the transformative potential of science and technology in people’s lives”, he said.

“Over the years, we developed expertise & capability to help other nations in their space initiatives. This is the skill of our scientists”, he tweeted.

On the two Indian satellites launched by academic institutions, he said, “Saw with immense joy that students from institutions in Pune & Chennai played a role in the making of satellites. This touched me”.

“As a common citizen, was totally immersed in happiness to see our youngsters excelling & taking so much interest in science”, Modi said.

MoS for Information and Broadcasting Rajyavardhan Rathore said, “#ISRO launch of record 20 satellites is yet another indicator of India’s growing space prowess. Congratulations to @isro and our scientists”.

Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Radha Mohan Singh said, “Congratulations Team @isro for launching 20 satellites in one go. 25th consecutive successful mission for #ISRO”. MoS Prime Minister’s Office Jitendra Singh tweeted, “Congrats team #ISRO. You have made it. Another milestone, another feather of glory. India is proud of you”.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu hailed the successful launch of PSLV-C34 that carried 20 satellites into space. “It is yet another milestone in ISRO’s history. I congratulate all the scientists over this accomplishment,” the Chief Minister said in a statement.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan also lauded ISRO scientists for the feat. “Placing 20 satellites into orbit in single launch is a big milestone achieved by dedicated and professional team of ISRO scientists and experts,” he tweeted.

ISRO aims at increasing satellite launches to 12-18 per year 

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) on Wednesday said it is looking at increasing the number of satellite launches to 12-18 per year, while underscoring the need for streamlining its robust PSLV series by adding on a new vehicle assembly building.

 “We need to streamline the PSLV series and we are trying to get into more number of launches per year by increasing the capacity within in the country,” ISRO chairman AS Kiran Kumar said. “We are working towards some mechanism where industry-ISRO partnership will enable us to increase the number of launches per year to almost 12-18 per year in the coming years,” he said.
