Normal life in Noida region has been disrupted by frequent power cuts for six to ten hours every day. Numerous outages and frequent line-tripping has been reported over the past few days.

The worst-affected are the rural areas of Noida and Greater Noida where, for most part of the day there is no electricity. The residents of Govindpuram, Vasundhara, Vaishali, Indirapuram, Raj Nagar, Sahibabad, Murad Nagar, Modi Nagar, Govindpuram in Ghaziabad, various sectors of Noida and Greater Noida are reeling under severe power crisis. ‘We have limited power sub-stations. We are also not getting additional electricity from UPPCL.
The crisis is likely to end once supply starts from the two power sub-stations currently under construction,’ said Arvind Rajvedi, superintendent engineer of Paschimanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited (PVVNL), a subsidiary body of Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL).
Meanwhile, a number of social organisations, resident forums and industrial bodies have threatened to stage a protest against frequent power cuts.
