Portion of National Instruments Ltd land to be given to DRDO

The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Wednesday gave its approval for transfer of a portion of land and building of erstwhile National Instruments Limited by Jadavpur University, West Bengal to the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) on <g data-gr-id="10">long term</g> lease.

The land will be transferred for <g data-gr-id="13">establishment</g> of a defence research centre namely the Jagadish Chandra Bose Centre for Advanced Technology (JCBCAT). Transfer of a portion of the land and building of the erstwhile National Instruments Limited to DRDO for establishment of a defence research centre, will be beneficial as Research and Development efforts are expected to result in reduction in import dependence in the strategic sector.
