With electorates in Jammu & Kashmir and Jharkhand ready to exercise their right to vote in the assembly elections, News Nation,  a Hindi channel has predicted that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) might cross the halfway mark in Jharkhand, whereas in Jammu & Kashmir it is likely to see a hung assembly with no clear winners in sight. The opinion poll suggests that in J&K out of 87 assembly seats, People’s Democratic Party (PDP) is likely to emerge as the frontrunner with 31-36 seats followed by the BJP which is likely to get 23-28 seats. Congress and others are expected to garner 8-12 seats only.

The ruling National Conference’s (NC) is expected to be restricted to 7-11 seats. The opinion poll shows that the most significant issue for the voters is employment followed by price rise and corruption. Fifty-eight per cent people surveyed have said that Article 370 has not been a roadblock in the development of state, while 33 per cent said that it has been a hurdle.

In Jharkhand out of 81 assembly seats, the BJP is likely to get 42-46 seats followed by Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) that may get 14 to 18 seats. Next in line is Congress with 6-10 seats, Jharkhand Vikas Morcha-Prajatantrik (JVM-Prajatantrik) with 5-9 seats and others are expected to get 4-8 seats. The most important issue for the voters here is price rise, followed by employment and corruption.
