The police say contract killers were involved in murder of SP leader in Greater Noida on Wednesday night.
According to a senior police officer, the killers did not have direct enmity with the victim, which indicates that money was paid to eliminate the Samajwadi Party leader Chaman Bhati. Bhati, national executive member of SP, was shot dead by assailants in Dabra village in Greater Noida.
‘We are carrying out raids to nab the culprits,’ said Preetinder Singh, SSP of Noida.
According to sources, his rivals Amit Kasana and Yogesh Bhati are the main suspects behind the murder.
The assailants scaled the boundary wall of Bhati’s house on Wednesday and shot him dead. The attack came on a day when the two men provided for his security were on leave. Bhati, who was earlier in the property business, was provided with security due to a threat to his life.
Last year, Bhati’s brother-in-law was shot dead by assailants.
