Two days after the murder of BSP leader Deepak Bharadwaj, Delhi Police on Friday claimed to have identified two men involved in the ghastly act. The suspected shooters have been identified as Sunil and Purushottam a.k.a. Monu. ‘No arrests have been made yet. We are investigating,’ said DCP (South) Chhaya Sharma.

Bharadwaj, the richest candidate in 2009 Lok Sabha polls from Delhi with declared assets of over Rs 600 crore, was shot on March 26 at his farmhouse in Rajokri.  The killers, along with an accomplice, fled in a Skoda with fake registration number. ‘We recovered the Skoda from outer Delhi on Thursday. The car owner, Rakesh, has been taken into custody. During interrogation, Rakesh said he got Rs 8 lakh from Sunil to buy a car. Rakesh identified both the shooters in a CCTV footage,’ said a police official.

According to sources, a property dispute or business rivalry might have led to the murder. Police has questioned Bhardwaj’s family members, from whom he was estranged of late, and the security guards at the farmhouse on Delhi-Gurgaon border. The postmortem report revealed that Bharadwaj was shot thrice in head and chest. The killers entered the farmhouse on the pretext of meeting Bharadwaj to book a marriage venue in the farmhouse compound.
